Popeyes Chief Marketing Officer In July 2011, Popeyes celebrated the opening of its 2,000th restaurant. Founded in 1972, this Chicken QSR concept reached this milestone close to the celebration of its 40th anniversary. Within 10 years of the debut of his first Popeyes restaurant, owner Al Copeland created the Popeyes franchise and opened 500 restaurants across the South.

In 1994, the chain went global and entered Canada. In 2009, Popeyes rebranded itself as Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen to reflect the focus on its home culture. The company initiated extensive menu innovation based on its native Cajun and Creole culinary styles, realizing unprecedented growth in sales and popularity.

Today, Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen serves customers in 26 countries and 3 territories through 340 franchisees, with 45 states across the country now serving Popeyes “Louisiana Fast” chicken. The initiatives established in 2008 are bringing Popeyes to its full potential and have led Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen to the forefront of the field.
